1. Lemons can protect apples from getting brown
We all know this problem. Shortly after cutting an apple, the fruit turns brown. That’s because the cells of the apple release an enzyme called polyphenol oxidase, which reacts with oxygen and in turn makes the apple lose its appetizing fresh look. The good news is, lemons can help you with that. Simply apply some lemon juice to your apples and they won’t turn brown. The secret behind it is the ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) found in the lemons. It prevents oxidation and significantly slows the process of browning.
